The creation of a database that can contain clips, metadata, and process oriented information is a big help for finding cues quickly and answer all sorts of different questions in a film production.
In this article, we took a look at several examples in which Silverstack was used to benefit from such library search functionalities. Beyond that, the entry level data wrangling product Silverstack Offload Manager also comes with an underlying database and allows for a library export to Silverstack XT and Silverstack Lab to enable full library search options with ease.

Film and TV drama. What does a digital imaging technician do? How to display, online and on paper, mathematical notation, equations and formulae in a manner that looks appealing?
While it involves a steep learning curve, the user gains tremendous control over the look of the outputted questions and the rendering of equations, formulae and symbols on screen and on paper is excellent. Students have unlimited attempts at question sets, can regenerate questions, and see hints, advice and answer status at no cost. Students can practice as much as they want.
They do not earn grades for this work. These question sets are generally the same as the formative ones, except with a limited window of availability, limited time to complete the assessment, limited attempts, and no ability to see hints, advice, or whether the answer is correct or incorrect until the assessment is submitted.
Student grades are added automatically to the Webcourses GradeCentre. Paper graded exams are MCQ assessments sat in class under supervised conditions. A sample paper with solutions can be circulated ahead of time to help students practice the procedural questions and check their workings and understanding. Grades are outputted to a spreadsheet, and can be emailed individually to students from there.
As an educator, the primary benefit to using this approach has been the reusability of assessment material and the time saving in that regard, along with the time saved correcting. In the case of formative assessment with NUMBAS, there is a benefit to the student also in terms of the detailed feedback available and the availability of questions to practice on when learning new techniques.
The key drawback is the time invested. It takes longer to produce an assessment this way with randomised variables, and with answer choices generated from those than to just source or write a set of questions with fixed values. It takes even longer again to produce questions with detailed feedback built in - though that is really worth it in the long run. There is a balance between time spent creating assessments now with built in correcting and feedback and time saved creating, correcting, or giving feedback in the future.
Try it at the end of a semester. Learn to find help. Use online forums and documentation to solve your problems. Problem-based learning!
